Certified payroll (WH-347): a plain-English guide

What the federal certified payroll is, who files it, what each column means, and a printable weekly worksheet in the same order, for gathering the numbers.

What it is

WH-347 is the U.S. Department of Labor's optional form for the weekly certified payroll that contractors and subcontractors on covered federal and federally assisted construction submit. It lists each worker's classification, hours, rate, fringe, deductions and net pay, with a signed Statement of Compliance.

When it's required

Contractors and subcontractors on contracts covered by the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (generally federal or federally assisted construction over $2,000) submit a certified payroll for every week work is performed. Many states have their own prevailing-wage payroll rules and forms. The official form and its instructions are on the Department of Labor's site; always check them for the current version.

The official form and instructions are on the U.S. Department of Labor's site: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/government-contracts/construction/payroll-certification

Questions contractors ask

Do I have to use the WH-347 form itself?

The Department of Labor describes WH-347 as optional: a payroll in another format that has all the required information and the signed statement is generally accepted. Check the official instructions and your contract.

Can YakProject produce it?

Yes. Approved time becomes a weekly certified payroll in the WH-347 layout, and a connected GC receives the accepted weeks.
